The wrap-up
One real mistake per part, grounded in exactly how each is graded — plus the timing habit for all eleven items.
Listen and Repeat: chasing the exact words
Freezing because you can't remember the precise wording wastes the skill that's actually being tested. Reconstruct the skeleton — the words come back with it.
Sentence 5 — Greenhouse Tour theme
(silence — trying to recall the exact fourteen words)
"If it starts raining, guide the group to the covered pavilion immediately." — rebuilt from the shape: condition → instruction → place.
Take an Interview: stopping after one sentence
Answering the question directly and then going quiet leaves Topic Development almost entirely unscored. A full answer keeps going with a reason and a specific detail.
Same question, two answers
"I prefer studying alone." (then silence for the rest of the 45 seconds)
I prefer studying alone, because I focus better without distractions — for example, I get much more done on the library's silent floor.
Both parts: silence is the one real risk
Everything else — hesitation, a rebuilt sentence, an imperfect grammar choice — is normal with zero prep time. Going completely silent is the one thing that actively costs you.
The one rule
Stopping and waiting for the right words to arrive
Keep sound moving — a restart, a filler, anything — while you find them.
Time management across all 11 items
Part A already builds in more time as the sentences get harder — 8 seconds for the first, 20 for the last — so don't rush the short ones to save time. Part B gives all four questions the same 45 seconds regardless of style, so pace an opinion question exactly like a past-event one.
