Practicing smarter: skip ahead, jump around, show text

Two modes now — Timed Test for the real thing, Practice to drill exactly what you need

TOEFL Speaking now has two modes: Practice, where you can skip straight to any sentence, jump straight to Part B, or turn on text help — and Timed Test, which runs both parts in order, with no skipping and no text help.

Two modes now: Timed Test and Practice

Timed Test runs both parts in order — Part A, then Part B — at the real exam timing, with no skipping and no text help, just like the real thing. Practice mode is where the flexibility lives, built to help you drill exactly what you need.

Only Timed Test runs the sentences in strict order

In Practice mode, a locked box is skippable, not gated. Click straight to sentence five, or jump right to sentence seven, the longest one — whichever you actually want to drill.

Only want to redo sentence 7?

Timed Test — restart the whole test from sentence 1

Practice mode — click straight to sentence 7, one click, no restart.

Practice mode: skip Part A entirely, straight to Part B

A link at the top of the Part A screen jumps directly to Take an Interview without finishing the 7 sentences first — useful on a day when interview practice is what you actually need.

Only have 10 minutes today?

Timed Test — do all 7 Listen and Repeat sentences first, every time

Practice mode — skip ahead and go straight to interview practice.

“Show text” — Practice mode, Part B only

A “Show text” button displays each interview question as text while DEB asks it, available in Practice mode. Part A stays audio-only on purpose, even in Practice — listening and repeating what you hear is exactly what that task is testing. Timed Test keeps text help off completely, just like the real exam.

Timed Test: in order, no skipping, no text help → Practice: skip within Part A → skip Part A entirely → show text for Part B, revealed in order
