4 real Factual Detail questions, Test 1’s Router and Module

Factual Detail is by far the most common question type here — both the “According to the passage…” kind and naturally-phrased daily-life questions that ask for a specific stated detail. 4 real examples, worked through one at a time.

Q32 — a detail from a daily-life email

Q32: “According to the email, what will happen to the guest network on Saturday?”

The email states: “the guest network will be unavailable, though the main staff network should remain accessible.” That single stated fact is the whole answer — no interpretation needed.

Answer: It will be unavailable during the maintenance window.

Q35 — a requirement stated in a notice

Q35: “What is required to enter the library after hours?”

The notice states: “after-hours entry requires scanning at the front desk,” with a reminder to bring an ID card. The wrong options — a permission form, a reservation, a fee — are never mentioned at all.

Answer: Scanning an ID card at the front desk.

Q45 — a naturally-phrased policy detail

Q45: “What is stated about discounted items?”

Notice this one doesn’t start with “According to the passage” — it’s phrased naturally, as daily-life questions often are. The notice states: “Final sale: no returns or exchanges on discounted items,” ruling out the 30-day-return and exchange options directly.

Answer: They cannot be returned or exchanged.

Q37 — a detail from an academic passage

Q37: “According to the passage, what made wild rice more difficult to domesticate than wheat or barley?”

The passage states: “its seeds shattered and scattered naturally once ripe, making large-scale collection difficult.” Academic Factual Detail questions work exactly the same way as daily-life ones — find the one sentence that states the fact, and match it word for word against the options.

Answer: Its ripe seeds shattered and scattered naturally, making collection difficult.

An email detail → a notice requirement → a sale-notice policy → an academic detail, revealed in order
