Back to Tutorials

One real test, start to finish — Technology & Society

Part 1: Technology in Daily Life. Part 2: a useful piece of technology. Part 3: Technology & Society. Same 3-part shape, real content, start to finish.

Part 1 — Technology in Daily Life

4 real questions: “How often do you use the internet in a typical day?” “What kinds of things do you use your phone for most?” “Do you think people your age spend too much time on their phones?” “Can you remember life before smartphones? How was it different?” Direct answer, one reason or example, every time.

Part 2 — describe a useful piece of technology

The cue card: “Describe a piece of technology that you find very useful.” What it is · How long you have used it · What you use it for · Explain why you find it so useful. One minute to plan a word or two per bullet, then up to 2 minutes working through them in order.

Part 3 — Technology & Society

4 real questions, more abstract, connected to Part 2’s theme: “How has technology changed the way people communicate?” “Do you think technology is making people more or less productive?” “What are the risks of society becoming too dependent on technology?” “How do you think AI will change the workplace in the future?” Answer about people and society in general.

Putting it together

Personal and brief in Part 1, fully developed on one topic in Part 2, abstract and reasoned in Part 3 — the same 3-part shape holds on every real test in the bank, this one included.
